Published the first official pictures 2014 Citroen Picasso models. The production model is characterized by typical front with a thin mask and set high LED daytime running lights.Certainly not everyone will be delighted to look exterior but the interior is well equipped with high-quality materials and eye-catching design.
Where the Jeep Cherokee and Nissan Juke have failed in terms of front fascia, Citroën has managed to create a bold and attractive look for the new C4 Picasso. Looking a lot like the Technospace concept, the new mini MPV is based on PSA’s EMP2 architecture which brings significant weight savings thanks to a composite rear floor and alloy body components which have managed to shave off up to 140 kg (308 lbs). Half of the diet is related to the composite tailgate and aluminum hood.
According to Citroën, the new C4 Picasso has the same weight as the smaller C3 Picasso. The vehicle is 4.43 meters long, 1.83 meters wide and 1.61 meters tall, with a boot capacity of 537 liters or 630 liters if the rear seats are pushed forward. Although it’s shorter than its predecessor by 40mm, the new generation brings a 55mm longer wheelbase.
Inside the cabin Citroën has fitted materials of higher quality and will be available with more premium trims, like two-tone color finishes for the dashboard, doors and seats. As standard it comes with a seven-inch touchscreen display from which the driver or passenger can have full control of the interior functions, including audio, navigation, dual zone air conditioning, driving aids, phone as well as connected services.
There’s also a bigger 12-inch screen above for the instrument panel showing all the vital info the driver needs, with the possibility of showing data from either driving aids or navigation. The cabin has three individual rear seats which can be configured independently from one another.
The French automaker is proud to mention the new C4 Picasso is the first compact MPV with an internal combustion engine to have CO2 emissions of less than 100 g/km. They are talking about the e-HDi 90 Airdream with stop/start system which packs a 92 HP (68 kW) diesel engine linked to a six-speed clutch-less gearbox, with CO2 emissions of just 98 g/km. In this configuration, the C4 Picasso returns 61.9 mpg US (74.3 mpg UK or 3.8 liters / 100 km).
They are offering other engines like the 1.6-liter e-HDi 115 and a 1.6-liter Blue HDi 150 (Euro 6 compliant) with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) for lowering CO2 emissions to 110 g/km. In terms of gasoline engines, the 2014 Citroen C4 Picasso can be configured with a VTi 120 and a more powerful THP 155.
